Depaul UK is the largest national youth homelessness charity in the UK. AstraZeneca created a community investment programme to improve the health of young disadvantaged people. As part of this Naked Eye was commissioned to create a series of films that explored the fears, hopes and experiences of homeless young adults in the UK. The work demonstrated to stakeholders the multi-faceted challenges of some of Depaul UK’s client’s needs and their relationship to mental health.
The insights and stories supported a Government report on Young Health Programme, and the films were screened at The Houses of Parliament. According to Paul Marriott, Chief Executive, Depaul UK - along with other strands of research conducted - the stories and insights highlighted challenging considerations for policy makers, commissioners and health care providers. It affirmed both concerns in the current system and opportunities in its reform for those who work with young homeless people on a daily basis.
